Happy Wednesday, Future Party. After a day of tomfoolery, we hope this newsletter can balance the scales with nothing but cold, hard seriousness… which is why we wrote about banking chatbots that code switch for the youths and dating-app chatbots that get flirty with people. Nothing ridiculous to read here.

Banking Gets A Gen Z Update
Platforms, such as Arta Finance and Robinhood, want to shake up the banking landscape by offering features that appeal to younger customers.
Why It Hits: The full power of a bank — wealth management, investment insights, and tax advice — is typically too analog and too inaccessible to young people who have been raised on smartphones. While the big banks have been trying to modernize their technology to keep up, startups that can capture customers early in their financial journeys may be positioning themselves for long-term growth in a highly competitive market.
Behind the Apps: Do you want a bank in your pocket?
Robinhood is rolling out Robinhood Banking (a full-service digital bank) and Robinhood Strategies (a wealth-management platform).
On top of normal banking and financial services, the tools include AI-powered investment advice, a DoorDash-like cash-delivery service, and discounted helicopter rides (in case you want to fake baller status).
Arta — led by former Google exec Caesar Sengupta and backed by ex-UBS CEO Ralph Hamers — debuted a chatbot tool designed for Gen Z that provides personalized investment advice.
The chatbot, which is only available to accredited investors, can speak to young customers in their native tongue, saying things like, “Low-key gonna break down ur investment plan rn,” and “No cap, ur portfolio is fire!” (yes, it’s objectively hilarious).
Final Balance: Can platforms like Robinhood and Arta shake up the financial sector? Robinhood was instrumental in democratizing stock investing for a new cohort of customers, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Gen Z gives it a shot. And Arta wants to license its tech to other banks, so you may soon see a JPMorgan Chase chatbot trying to rizz up your investment strategy. So, yeah, a vibe shift is coming for banking… but it’s okay to be a little sus about it.

Would You Flirt With AI?
Tinder is releasing a game that allows users to flirt with an OpenAI-powered chatbot, so they can get better at turning their matches into dates.
The Big Picture: The AI-ification of every aspect of our lives continues with Tinder’s digital version of Hitch. While chatting it up with a bot may feel awkward, it could catch on if it actually is successful in converting conversations into IRL meet-ups… especially after a Tinder study found that “64% of young singles are totally fine with a little cringe if it leads to a real connection.”
Between the Messages: There’s now a game to figure out how much game you’ve got.
Tinder’s The Game Game lets users flirt with OpenAI’s GPT-4o model.
The game deals a user a card from a virtual stack, with each card “introducing a different AI persona and a hilariously exaggerated rom-com scenario,” per Fast Company.
The player’s job is to flirt through each scenario — like having luggage mixed up at the airport or stepping on someone’s sunglasses at the beach.
The chatbot (which always sends the first message) will give users feedback on their answers in real-time. Users win when they successfully land a date… in three minutes.
The Future: Tinder will only let you play five sessions of The Game Game per day, because it still wants you chatting with actual humans at some point (sorry, no AI relationships allowed here). It’s doubtful that Tinder wants you to take this game too seriously… but with a Forbes Health survey finding that 79% of Gen Zers are burnt out by dating apps (and, therefore, engagement on Tinder), this could get people swiping again.

57.7% of you voted No in yesterday’s poll: Are you interested in watching classic films reimagined with new technology?
“Don’t mess with the classics.”
“Make new movies immersive. Leave the past in the past.”
“I’m thinking of movies like Jurassic Park, Aliens, Terminator 2, or Avengers, where a big, immersive experience would make a difference. I wouldn’t watch The Godfather or Shawshank Redemption with new technology.”
“I prefer fit-to-format, but I do strongly believe any vehicle-based action movie has a place in 4DX.”
